This year we are separating our recitals into four performances. Our Friday Evening show will feature our Elementary School Classes in 2nd-5th Grades. On Saturday we will showcase our youngest dancers in the Morning, our Afternoon Recital will feature our Kindergarten and First Grade dancers, and our Evening Show will include our Middle and High school dancers. Our performing groups (Ballet Company, Lee-ettes, and Proteges) will perform in all four shows.
Traditionally, the high school students dance at the evening performance of the recital. High school classes may be asked to dance in more than one show. Being asked to dance in multiple shows is a privilege. All dancers who commit to dancing with their class for recital must be able to commit to performing each time her/his class performs. The faculty reserves the right to exclude from performance any dancer who cannot commit to participating at each recital performance; whether the performacne be in the morning, afternoon, or evening. Only Seniors taking solo lessons are eligible to perform a solo in the recital.
All students are invited but not required to perform in the spring recital. If your dancer will not be participating, you are responsible for notifying the office before costumes are ordered for the class. Each participating student will be responsible for paying a recital fee to defray the costs in production, and will be required to purchase a costume for each class that he/she takes, with the exception of Sacred and Pointe students. A recital fee will simplify the recital experience by providing 1 printed program per family, video links to all performances, and Free General Admission.
Please reach us at info@cabarrusdance.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
Yes! Dancers whose attendance falls below 50% may not be allowed to perform in the dance recital, regardless of whether a recital costume has been ordered. Faculty will not be available to "catch up" dancers whose attendance falls behind due to other after-school activities.
The faculty is given the choice of picking out a costume for the class. The costume must not exceed the price quoted to parents for their costume fee, and also be approved by the director. Parents will measure their children at home and submit a form that we provide, indicating their preferred costume size. The costumes are not custom made to fit, and parents are responsible for alterations.
The Lee-ettes are a high school tap line who are chosen by audition. The Lee-ettes have specific attendance requirements outlined in the audition agreement. The Lee-ettes open and close the recital each year, as well as perform at the Christmas Ballet. They are named after the school's founder, Peggé Lee Haywood, who directed the school until 1986. The CDA Ballet Company are a high school performing ballet troupe chosen by audition to represent our school in local performances. These groups also participate in community service events. The Protégés are our middle school performance groups who are also chosen by audition.
We award our dancers' commitment to the art of dance with awards for dancers who have completed five, ten, and fifteen year milestones.
