Miss Katie began dancing at the age of three, and studied all styles of dance with an emphasis on ballet and pointe. Miss Katie was a member of the performing companies at her home studio, captained her high school dance team, and studied ballet and contemporary dance during Dance Festivals at the NC School of the Arts.
Miss Katie attended Appalachian State University, where she was a member of the Appalachian Dance Ensemble and performed in the North Carolina Dance Festival. She graduated in 2014 with a Bachelor of Science in Public Relations and a minor in Dance Studies. While in college, Miss Katie also taught competitive contemporary dance at Appalachian Dance Theatre.
After graduating from Appalachian State, Miss Katie returned to Charlotte where she taught all ages of both recreational and competition dance for four years. After moving to Concord, she began teaching in 2018 at Cabarrus Dance Academy.
In addition to dance, Miss Katie has significant experience competing in and choreographing pageants. She competed in the Miss America system where she held multiple local titles in North Carolina.
Miss Katie is certified in Acrobatics and Jazz by Dance Masters of America, and also has her Acrobatics certification from Acrobatic Arts.
When she's not teaching dance, Miss Katie enjoys spending time with her husband Ian, son Luca, and daughter Stella.
